The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, says he underwent throat surgery shortly after his much-talked-about interview with Al Jazeera journalist Mehdi Hasan.
He made the revelation during an appearance on News Central’s programme which aired on Friday, April 11. During the interview, Bwala also addressed public reactions to his Al Jazeera appearance and criticism from social media users.
Bwala disclosed that he underwent throat surgery eight days after his interview with Mehdi Hasan, adding that he has since recovered and returned stronger.
He criticised supporters of Peter Obi, popularly known as “Obidients,” accusing them of prioritising political loyalty over national interest and security.
Bwala also defended his conduct during the interview, describing Mehdi Hasan’s questioning style as confrontational and aligned with opposition tactics.
He said the journalist attempted to elicit responses that could discredit the government but was unsuccessful.
According to Bwala, a significant portion of the discussion focused on remarks he had previously made about President Tinubu while he was in the opposition, which he acknowledged while urging that the conversation move on to the main purpose of the interview.
