……..How are you going to win Osun without Adeleke – Tinubu Asks Oyetola
A senatorial aspirant for Osun West under the All Progressives Congress, Akin Ogunbiyi, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu once indicated a preference for Ademola Adeleke as governor of Osun State.
In a video currently circulating online, Ogunbiyi, who is also the chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance, claimed that Tinubu made the remark during a meeting with party leaders.
He stated that the President told them he was not expecting the APC to present a governorship candidate in Osun, noting that he had already identified Adeleke for the position.
According to Ounbiyi, Tinubu explained during the meeting that he invited Adeleke because he believed the arrangement would make governance easier for him.
Ogunbiyi further disclosed that Tinubu reportedly told former governor Gboyega Oyetola that he was the one that rejected Adeleke in joining APC, questioning how he intended to win the election under such circumstances.
The APC chieftain made the remarks in Yoruba language in the viral video, which has since generated reactions across political circles.
Ogunbiyi had earlier, on Friday, formally declared his intention to contest the Osun West Senatorial seat before party stakeholders in Iwo, expressing confidence in emerging as the party’s candidate.
Addressing party leaders at the meeting, he said the leadership across the Osun West senatorial district was in support of his ambition.
He added that his political experience and track record positioned him as a strong candidate capable of representing the people effectively in the National Assembly.
Ogunbiyi explained that his appearance at the meeting was part of efforts to formally inform party stakeholders ahead of a broader public declaration of his ambition.
