OYO 2027: Oriyomi Hamzat emerges Accord guber candidate against Goodugoodu

Popular Oyo State broadcaster and philanthropist, Oriyomi Hamzat, has emerged as the Accord consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Oyo State, with the media personality declaring that the journey towards a better state has started.

Hamzat, who announced his governorship ambition in January, expressed gratitude to supporters, party leaders, and residents across the state for the backing he received following his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the veteran broadcaster described the support from stakeholders and followers as encouraging and motivating.

“I am deeply humbled by the overwhelming support shown to me following my emergence as the Accord Consensus Candidate for the 2027 Governorship Election in Oyo State,” he stated.

Hamzat said his emergence was beyond personal ambition, noting that it symbolised a collective aspiration for progress, justice, development, and people-centred leadership in the state.

“This moment is not just about me, it is about our collective hope for a better, safer, and more prosperous Oyo State.”

The Accord governorship candidate added: “The massive show of love and acceptance from party leaders, stakeholders, followers, and supporters across the state has strengthened my belief that together, we can build the future our people truly deserve.”

He also appreciated the leadership of the Accord Party at the national and state levels, alongside supporters who have continued to identify with what he described as a movement for positive change in Oyo State.

He said, “I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Accord, National and State, and every individual who believes in this vision of people-oriented leadership, justice, development, and progress.

“Your trust and confidence mean a lot to me, and I do not take this responsibility lightly.”

Hamzat further commended supporters for their loyalty, sacrifices, and commitment to the movement.

“To the thousands of supporters who continue to stand firmly with this movement, I say thank you. Your prayers, sacrifices, loyalty, and commitment will continue to inspire me throughout this journey.”

The broadcaster also reacted to the recent abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area of the state involving school children and teachers, saying his thoughts were with the victims and their families.

“At this moment, my heart is also with the innocent children, teachers, and families affected by the tragic attack in Oriire Local Government. As some victims still remain in captivity, we share in the pain, grief, anxiety, and uncertainty their loved ones are going through.

“We continue to pray fervently for their safe and immediate return, while standing in solidarity with every affected family during this difficult time. No society can truly prosper where fear and insecurity threaten the lives of its people, especially our children and educators,” he stated.

Hamzat concluded by expressing optimism about the future of the state, while insisting that his movement represented a departure from the old political order.

“By the grace of God and with the support of the good people of Oyo State, we will work together to create a government that truly serves the people. The journey has begun. It’s not business as usual.”
