Akinyele Spelling Challenge Inspires Young Minds in Ibadan.
The first-ever Akinyele Spelling Challenge lit up Moniya, Ibadan on the 2nd of May 2026, as more than 50 pupils showcased their talents at Funduk Hall.Convened by Pastor ‘Moore Olatunde, Chief Education Officer of Ivory Educational Resources, the competition was born out of a vision to nurture excellence and steer children toward positive growth.
Moore emphasized that the challenge is not just about spelling, but about building capacity, strengthening families, and shaping future leaders.Though funding limited participation to fewer than 100 pupils, the event proved a resounding success.
Winners included “Olatunji Treasure of Akingbile (₦100,000), Luqman Abdulsalam of Igbo-Oloyin (₦50,000), and Ejiro Bethel of Sagbe (₦30,000).Moore expressed optimism that the success of this maiden edition will attract greater support from stakeholders and sponsors, paving the way for an even bigger platform to empower children across Akinyele and beyond.
According to the Executive Director, Bukunmi Olatunde, the initiative is not only on spelling but other aspects of learning. She stressed that plans are already on for a Maths and Science challenge towards the end of the year. The Chief Judge of the event, Counsellor Grace Kayode, commended the participants for a display of courage and enthusiasm. She hailed the efforts of school administrators, teachers and parents for a job well done in preparing the children for the competition and charged the pupils to see themselves as winners always.
This was supported by Ms Temitope Jesuromo, a seasoned educational consultant and writer, and one of the judges, urging the children to always strive for greatness. Besides the cash reward both judges gave individual prizes to the three finalists while all children in attendance, participants and non-participants, were given customized bags and other gifts.
The program was executed with support from “Mosh Estrella Institute, Techbase Consultants, MECAF Foundation, SDC Photography, RCCG Kingdom Diplomats, and other well meaning individuals.
