Oriyomi Hamzat Honored as “Champion of Social Justice in Nigeria” Yesterday at the University of Ibadan Conference Center, the Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, Southwest Chapter honored Alh. Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat as “Champion of Social Justice in Nigeria.
“Speaking at the event, he reflected on the turbulent times that shaped him. Through resilience and hard work, he has remained a voice for the voiceless — a true servant leader. In his acceptance speech, Oriyomi appreciated the convener for the recognition. He decried the state of democracy in Nigeria, noting that while we were taught about the 3 tiers of government in school, the tier closest to the people — Local Government Administration — has been deprived of the power to deliver dividends of democracy to the grassroots. He stated that this plight inspired him to consider politics as the true pivot for policies that will rehabilitate and reposition Oyo State.
Many described Oriyomi as a man of national prominence, built on hard work, strong organizational ability, and excellent administrative skills. Over the years, he has remained bold, courageous, and unwavering in the pursuit of justice.
