Damilola Marshal, daughter of Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM1), has declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2027 general election.
Marshal, a lawyer and the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, made the announcement on Tuesday in a post shared on her Instagram handle.
She said she would be contesting to represent Surulere Constituency 2 in the state assembly.
“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, I am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.
The 12-year legal practitioner said her professional journey has helped shape her understanding of governance, justice, and the needs of the community she hopes to represent.
“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the voice of the youth in the House.
“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward,” she added.
Marshal also urged voters in the constituency to support competence and progress as she signed off her message with the words: “Youth Lokan!!! Igbega Eko, Ajumose wa ni.”
If elected, she would replace the current representative of Surulere Constituency 2, Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Marshal, the second daughter of the Fuji star, studied law at North America University, Houdegbe, Cotonou, Benin Republic. She was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 15, 2015, and later obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.
