‘I Was Stubborn At The Beginning Of My Govt’ – Tinubu Opens Up

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that he was somewhat stubborn at the early stage of his administration while trying to implement reforms aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

The president made the remark during an interfaith breaking of fast with senior journalists and media executives at the Presidential Villa.

Tinubu said he regularly reads newspapers and follows reports from media organisations, noting that he often goes through headlines daily before leaving his residence.

He explained that at the beginning of his administration he focused on identifying opportunities to correct systemic problems and introduce policies aimed at making life easier for ordinary Nigerians.

The president also stated that his administration had strengthened the principles of federalism by ensuring that local governments now receive their allocations directly from the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Tinubu, however, noted that while local governments now receive their funds directly, the responsibility for how such resources are utilised rests with local authorities.
