‘I Cannot Endorse Atiku, Peter Obi’ – Sunday Igboho Replies Sowore

Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, has stated that he will not be compelled to endorse the 2027 presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, or activist politician Omoyele Sowore.Igboho made this known while reacting to comments by Sowore, who accused some regional agitators and influencers of engaging in transactional politics and activism. The reaction followed a viral video in which Sowore criticised certain figures for allegedly aligning with political actors for personal or material gain.He specifically accused Igboho of supporting President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid and engaging in what he described as “Amala politics.”In response, Igboho, through his spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, dismissed the allegations and described the remarks as baseless and not worthy of public attention. He rejected the characterisation of his activism as transactional, noting that such claims misrepresent the core objective of his agitation, which focuses on grassroots security in the South-West and across Nigeria.Igboho also questioned Sowore’s role in past efforts related to his freedom, suggesting that the activist had not contributed significantly to such struggles. He further alleged that Sowore’s claim of fighting for the masses contradicts reports of his high daily lodging expenses at a Lagos hotel. On political alignment, Igboho maintained that he cannot be forced to support any political figure, including Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi, nor align with Sowore’s political platform. He emphasized his right to make independent political decisions, stating that such choices would be guided by the security and collective interests of the Yoruba people.
