Renowned Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham recently shared insights into the repercussions of her public endorsement and campaigning for President Bola Tinubu during the previous election cycle.
Her comments emerged during a discussion where she offered advice to fellow actor Timini Egbuson regarding strategies for achieving box office success with his film.
Abraham cautioned Egbuson, stating, “The primary counsel I can offer is to refrain from engaging in political discourse. Avoid publicly declaring support for any candidate. Maintain neutrality and remain independent.”
When prompted by Timini about her past open support for the Tinubu presidency, Abraham responded, “That was then.”
She further elaborated on the negative professional impact, exclaiming, “It significantly affected me.”
Earlier in 2024, reports indicated that Toyin Abraham had expressed distress after her newly released movie, ‘Ijakumo’ (Born-Again Stripper), was allegedly disseminated via WhatsApp.
Amidst criticisms of ‘Ijakumo’, the actress publicly questioned, “You all will explain to the world why my choice of candidate is deemed a crime, while yours is not.”
This statement followed a period where some netizens reportedly pledged to boycott her film due to her political campaigning.
