Scores of Nigerians on Wednesday gathered at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, staging what organisers described as the ongoing “Save Democracy” protest.
Participants were seen dressed in branded “Operation Save Our Democracy” T-shirts, while others displayed red and white placards bearing different inscriptions.
Footage obtained by journalists showed protesters, including supporters of Aisha Yesufu, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, popularly known as Mama Pee, alongside other activists, actively taking part in the demonstration.
The protest ground was charged with chants, as demonstrators repeatedly sang “We no go gree,” while some called for the removal of the INEC Chairman.
Meanwhile, another video showed key figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, Obi and Kwankwaso, assembling at Maitama Roundabout in the Federal Capital Territory ahead of leading the protest.
